About Dimethyl sulfoxide
A highly polar aprotic solvent that is itself a common cryoprotectant: it lowers the freezing point of cell suspensions and limits ice-crystal damage during cryopreservation. It readily crosses skin and can carry dissolved toxicants into the bloodstream, so glove selection matters more than for most solvents.
