About Diethyl ether
An ethereal solvent that dissolves Grignard and organolithium reagents while keeping them from reacting with protic solvents. Its low boiling point (35 °C) also makes it a convenient extraction solvent, but it forms explosive peroxides on standing and is among the most flammable liquids found in a teaching lab.
