Scientific Journal Finder ("we", "our", or "this site") is committed to protecting visitor privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use this website, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information. By using this site, you agree to the terms of this policy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

The following is not collected, stored, or transmitted by Scientific Journal Finder:

• Abstract text or keywords entered into the journal search tool

• Manuscript titles or any research content you type or paste into the finder, the calculators, or the compound library

• Personal identification information from tool usage (name, email, IP address)

• Browser history or search patterns

All journal matching is performed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. No search data is ever sent to our servers or any third party by this site.

2. Information You Choose to Send Us

A few features only work if you send us something. This section describes each one — what is stored, why, and for how long. Everything here is optional: the journal finder, the calculators, and the compound library never require it.

Contact form and idea box: if you use the contact form or submit a tool idea, we store the name, email address, and message you provide so we can read and reply to it. Messages are kept until they are resolved and then deleted by our routine retention cleanup. The IP address and browser user-agent of the submission are stored with it for spam prevention only.

Blog comments: if comments are enabled and you post one, we store your display name, email address, and the comment text. Your name and comment are shown publicly once a moderator approves them; your email address is used only for moderation and is never displayed on the site. Comments are moderated before they appear.

Scientific help desk: if the help desk is enabled and you submit a query, we store your query text and your email address. You must confirm your email through the verification link before the query is reviewed. Unconfirmed submissions are automatically deleted after 7 days, and confirmed queries are automatically deleted 45 days after verification. We reply to you by email — there is no public listing of help desk queries, and your email address is never displayed publicly.

3. Cookies

This website does not use cookies of its own. We do not set any tracking, analytics, or preference cookies on your device. The journal finder, the calculators, the compound library, and the writing checker's built-in analysis all run entirely in your browser without cookies.

If our optional analytics and advertising integrations are configured, the third-party services described in sections 4 and 5 may set their own cookies when those services are enabled. The ad-block notice feature does not use cookies: it sends a single anonymous “blocked / not blocked” signal that increments a daily aggregate counter, with no identifier, no IP address storage, and no cookie of any kind.

4. Analytics

We may use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited and where visitors run into trouble. These services are the only analytics we use; no other trackers are loaded. The text you enter into the journal finder, the calculators, the compound library, or the local (non-AI) part of the writing checker is never sent to them — that text does not leave your browser at all.

5. Google AdSense and Advertising

This website may display advertisements through Google AdSense. When advertising is enabled, Google AdSense may use cookies to serve relevant ads based on your visits to this and other websites. If advertising is disabled, no ad scripts are loaded.

6. Optional AI Features

Some tools offer an optional AI analysis. AI features are off by default and run only when you explicitly request them and accept the consent line shown in the tool. When you do, the text you submitted for that analysis is sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter) so it can be processed; the provider is routed to zero-retention endpoints that do not store your text or train on it. We never store or log the text you submit for AI analysis — prompts and outputs are not saved to our database and do not appear in our server logs, which record only the route, status code, and duration of requests.

If AI is switched off, unavailable, or has reached its usage limits, the affected tool falls back to its built-in rule-based analysis, which runs entirely in your browser. The journal finder, the calculators, and the compound library never send your input to any AI provider, and the statement above that all journal matching is performed entirely in your browser remains true for every one of those tools.

7. Third-Party Links

This website contains links to publisher websites, journal pages, and external resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites. Visitors are encouraged to review the privacy policy of any external site before submitting personal information.

8. Children's Privacy

This website is intended for researchers and academics. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children under the age of 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
