About Magnesium chloride
A source of the Mg²⁺ cofactor that every DNA polymerase needs, so PCR master mixes typically contain 1.5–2 mM. Its hydrated forms are harvested from brines; the anhydrous salt is used as a desiccant and in Ziegler–Natta catalysts.
