About 2-Mercaptoethanol
The classic thiol reducing agent added to Laemmli sample buffer to cleave disulfides before SDS-PAGE, and a standard cell-culture antioxidant. Its notorious odour and toxicity drive labs toward DTT or TCEP when possible.
